Virgin: V+ and V+HD confusion

Hello all,
I'm new to this forums but need your help!
I'm thinking about getting Virgin Media in my new house, but am confused about what they offer! I know Sky offer a '+' box without a monthly charge, but do Virgin do the same?
I'm not interested in the HD stuff at present, so can I get just a simple V+ box (if it even exists!). Their site really isn't very clear as links to V+ boxes take me to info on V+HD...
I really don't want to pay the extra £5 to record and rewind TV. If so, I think Sky+ could be a better bet for me.
Thanks in advance!

The V+ box is HD ready so if you have a HD TV it will work on HD. Otherwise it works with normal channels.
If you take the XL TV package you pay whatever the charge for the box is at the moment, with no monthly charge for the box. You are actually only renting the box, if it breaks down etc Virgin will send someone to fix or replace it free.
If you take lower than the XL TV package then you are charged £10 or £5 for the box each month.
The thing with the V+ box you can record two different channels whilst at the same watch a third one.
On Demand which is free on XL TV is also a bonus, catch up on shows or on Choice watch whole series. BBC IPlayer is on your TV with Virgin so you don't have to watch over the web.0
