You did 10 orders? All to different email addresses?:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0 -

I placed 3 orders around the same time yesterday but only 2 have been dispatched-does this mean I'm not likely to get the third one? It says still processing in my account.0

I am quite surprised ASOS allowed it to go on for so long, when you consider that they are an online retailer, so must have people working on their IT 24 hours a day. Was it a publicity gimmick? It definitely attracted more people and got a better response from all of us than say the flash sale disaster at Goddiva (3p dresses that very few people got), or the Outnet fiasco a little while ago. This way, everyone is happy and the site hasn't crashed. Anyway, thanks OP. I am quite happy to publicise ASOS after this!0

It doesn't quite work like that. 24*7 Ops rooms aren't normally operated by coders so they wouldn't be able to fix code and put it live, and 24*7 callout coders are on call and only get called when the system crashes as they charge overtime. All the overnight work is automated and only requires human intervention when the system falls over. I did that job for a while and I slept with a pager and my mobile under my pillow to make sure I woke up if I was called out.
Nobody would normally be monitoring sales overnight in that way. It would be more usual for the Buyer to look at sales in the morning.
Most IT departments for online retailers have people working 9 - 5.30pm who are on call outside core hours for emergencies only.
People always suggest these things are publicity stunts - but the reality is that glitches in IT systems are more common than you think. And most retailers wouldn't pull a publicity stunt which makes them look incompetent and makes people think they can be taken for a ride.0 -
Okay. Thanks for info. I am not an IT expert in any way. Just happy that they are honouring this!0
