Please note that requesting someone to PM you a code, or indeed offering to PM others a code is something that we are unable to allow. As long as your code fits the criteria for posting, as can be seen in > OUR RULES < there should be no reason that you cannot post it on the Discount codes board.

Anyone asking/offering a code over PM will have unfortunately have their post removed and persistent such requests/offers may lead to further action.

    Thanks for your understanding
    .

Thanks for that Browntoa. Since you have gone to the trouble to explain pm-ing of codes is not allowed, could you also tell us why?

    Thanks:)

Got the white pair Cath Kidston wellies for going to the school allotment. Will have to wear thick socks, but who cares they are soooo pretty!:T

Got my £5 voucher code from Ebay, but still a bargain. Thanks for all the advice folks.

The codes are fine to post as they come with a can of Diet Coke so belong to the person giving them away. The problem is that they are single use so people are coming on here and taking them without saying so. That frustrates both the giver and the people they are meant for. Surely saying you've used a code and saying thanks is not a huge hardship!!!! That's why the codes started to be PMed and I hold my hands up and admit that was my idea not realisng it was a no no. Could an exception be made in the case of a once only code? It seems harsh that people who post here regularly and help others miss out on what is meant to be given to them. I hope I have explained my point and look forward to a board guide reply. I am hoping some rules are flexible in this sort of case.

You are probably better off emailing abuse and explaining the situation to them. Board guides only apply the rules, they don't have any flexibility or say.

You'll probably get a polite no but it's worth a try because as you say - the codes are ones that you have received from a product rather than a mass email one or something :)

    Good luck

Obviously I won't name names but to all the people who have PM'd me for a code, I'm really sorry, but I can't share them as I don't want to get myself banned from the board. I've been a member here for 4 years now and it's just not worth losing my account over.

Sorry; I would have been happy to share codes privately before I knew about the rules about PM'ing of codes not being allowed.

    :-)

Mine are going too. I haven't even mentioned the dreaded PMing either. I think (may be wrong) that the reason it's not allowed is that some codes are used fraudulently and if they are put on here something can be done about removing dodgy codes. With PMing mse may still be in trouble and can't moderate what's being sent. It just seems that rules ought to be flexible in this case really. Rather than someone just saying it's against the rules I'd like to know why it's wrong to do. I'm an adult and pretty reasonable and I don't like someone saying not to do something without saying why and not listening to my point. Then again I've always been one of those people who get into trouble for insisting on things being right and fair and then flapping my gums a lot about it ;). I hate unfairness, rudeness and bad manners. I have also been known to yell "thank you" at folk who I've held a door for or something and they say nothing or "you forgot your baby" at the idiots parking in parent and child spaces with no children. Big gob me

some posts get removed as they are quoting other posts

posts are also sometimes removed as they would appear out of context with the remaining posts, not because you personally have done anything wrong

if you want to ask about policy decisions you need to post here

I didn't quote anyone, all I did was explain that I would not be PM'ing any codes to anyone as I RESPECTED THIS FORUM too much for that and did not want to lose my 4-year account.

I only said this because I am still getting a lot of PMs asking me to send codes, and rather than reply to ALL those emails, it would be easier and more polite of me to leave one message here. But apparently I'm breaking some sort of rule.

I'm sorry but I am beyond frustrated right now.
