  • Hi. Try not to worry too much. RAS always seems to have good advice.
Have you done an SOA? Have you been in contact with this company and tried to set up an agreement or what's happened? A bit of info as to whether this came out of the blue or what might help.
    Anyway - sorry I can't help more.
Best of Luck and hopefully someone more knowledgable will be able to help you.

The OFT has imposed 'requirements' on 1st Credit using consumer credit powers, after an investigation found that some of its business processes and procedures failed to meet satisfactory standards. As a result, 1st Credit Ltd and its associated companies must:
    • refrain from issuing statutory demands warning of bankruptcy where it is unlikely that proceedings will be initiated
    • not discuss legal action with consumers unless it is likely that such action will be taken
    • ensure that sensitive cases involving vulnerable individuals, for example those with mental health or medical problems, are dealt with appropriately, and
    • ensure that all matters of concern raised with them by the free advice sector and other third parties are dealt with appropriately
What was the debt originally for, please
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • there all credit cards am afraid, which i had for the past 17 years without a problem till i became sick
  • How much did you actually owe? and how much is charges on top? do you know? Also do you have PPI on them? if so then they should be paying out or you can claim it was missold if it doesn't pay out and wouldn't do because of your circumstances.

  • Hang on if it's in his name the card and the bankruptcy threat in his name then he hasn't got PPI on it has he? if he was/is self employed then it would never have paid out so he should reclaim it.
Anyway it sounds like 1st Credit are known to the OFT so they are obviously being watched (or should be) so it's not just you that are having problems - this is good because they have obviously been told to behave and if they are not then there will be trouble for them.
    Try not to worry.

Please can you advise what the £4,000 debt was originally for?

Ok spotted the post re credit cards.

This looks very much like a new 1st credit tactic designed to get round the OFT Guidelines.

Will post back in a mo.
