'Stopped' is the correct expression. Physical disconnection is rarely undertaken and, hence, the new occupant can usually get a free reconneciton.ive been advised that when you cancel your contract when you move the line gets deactivated which means that you need a new lne installed. tiscali and bt told me this afternoonTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
i recently moved house. i phoned bt to arrange things with them and they were going to charge me £122 to reactivate the line at the new house. i simply asked to be put through to disconnections as i couldnt afford that , and they then offered to do it for free as long as i was willing to sign an 18 month contract.
glad i didnt pay it ... the bt guy came out and he was here only 3 or 4 minutes!!!! he literally plugged something into the bt socket said yeh thats working and left!! i would have paid £122 for that!0
