No that sounds like a long time. How far did you get in the process? What was the last thing they asked you to do?

  • If any of the process involves receiving anything in the post, remember there are a series of postal strikes up and down the country - on various dates.

These have seriously delayed a recent application of mine.

My new Egg savings account was opened within minutes online yesterday but I am already a customer, so no ID issues, etc.

I wasnt an Egg customer. I opened an Egg isa one day, online, then the next day decided to open a savings account too and did it online with no problem and able to deposit straight away.

Hve you tried logging in? I set one up a couple of weeks ago and, never having had an Egg account before, was expectig an ID in the post (as with other banks). When it didn't turn up after 2 weeks , I tried logging in - no user ID needed only basic details and the account had been set up - just no one told me!

I have had no communication at all from Egg - but the accout appears to be working fine.

I set up an online savings account on 4th Sept...I wasn't an existing customer so they said they had to do a few ID checks before the account became fully operational. Three days later they sent me an email to say the account was up and running.

As I'm a new "Eggie" -did a few test transactions. 1 cheque and 2 FP from different accs -very unimpressed with their informative (not) statements

  • I cant really complain. I was new to EGG and few weeks ago I opened a saving account. Didnt have any problems with opening, it took me only few minutes. The next day I did my first transaction....

  • About 10 minutes online! Did they request extra identification docs etc. by post?
If they did it does seem a long time in spite of postal delays.
Have you contacted them to ask why?
