BT Vision - Vision Account Not Set Up On Line

I bought a BT Vision Box of Ebay and I can’t use it as I do not have a Vision account set up on my line (oopps I didn’t research it properly). It was still a good buy though as the £16 that I spend is still an excellent price for all of the extras that I received (hub, hub phone, spare cables, etc.) and the 160gb hard drive that is inside the box.


Has anyone else had any experience with this?

......If I ring BT and say that a friend has given me their old box and ask that the correct settings be put in place on my account, will they do it?
Or will they just insist that I pay the £90 to them for a new box (I am not interested in the monthly subscription packages).

Any views would be appreciated.

Do you not need to have internet with them? especially to get the on demand stuff, dont quote me on this but mine is deff connected to my broadband.

I do have BT broadband, which is why I thought it would just be plug and play.
But you saying that about the on demand stuff would explain why I need to have the settings added to my account.

when you apply you get a seperate account number and the box comes with a credit card and a strip that you rub off to reveal a number which you then have to ring through to the BT Vision bods and they activate it, which can take upto 24 hrs. You can but ring and find out if they will but i didnt pay a penny for mine, tho i think that was the current offer.
