Personal anti virus

Help please

This is on my pc and can't seem to remove it.

It's coming up with lots of messages re trojans and worms.

I have Avast on pc but it doesn't seem to have picked anything up.

Regards

Lola

Suggest you run Malwarebytes and ALSO Superantispyware.
If you don't already have these on your computer then look at the posts at the beginning of the techie forum and click on the one about anti spyware etc. In there, is the link to the download sites for both of these programmes.
Once you have them on your computer, UPDATE them, then RUN.
Follow on screen instructions - quite straightforward.
If you still feel you have problems suggest you post back and others will talk you through the next steps to get rid of 'nasties'.
    Good luck.:o

I hope you have backed up all important data. If not ... grrrrr ...

With avast you can schedule boot time scan.

Right click on the avast logo.
    Choose Start Avast Antivirus.
It eventually launches up that funny grey interface.
Right click on it and choose Schedule Boot time scan.
    Choose the advanced options
    Move infected files to chest
And allow delete or move for system files. (Use your own discretion here I can't guarantee any results.)

    Click schedule and reboot.

Let it finish its scan when it boots - don't press esc.

    That should get you there.

    Good luck

Thanks for quick reply....it's just that we tried this earlier and it found lots.

Do we have to pay for it? Please don't think I'm being mean.

It wouldn't let us remove threats till we paid for it. I was sure we could get something like a free scan.

We uninstalled it again (spy doctor)

    Thanks

God no don't pay for it, personal antivirus is a fake program (malware) set out to steal your money.

Have you downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan?

Just to throw a spanner in the works, the latest version of "personal anti virus" does a simple check for mbam.exe and will not allow it to run. Just rename it to something else like mbamxxx.exe and it will run.

After the scan is finished do I remove or quarantine. I Had malwarebytes on a while back but can't remember what I did.

The guide you gave me at first to remove it was spy doctor who wanted paid to remove infections.

    Fingers crossed.
