Thanks Pastures, I ended up watching University Challenge and Masterchef. And now design for life, absolutely in love with Phillipe Starck's stuff.

I watched UC too. Did that woman on the far left for Durham answer a single question? We couldn't think of any.

Am a Starck fan too. Now going out to search for programme on a late start. Thanks for the tip-off misskool. Here's hoping I find it.

    Aaawwww....I'm pleased for Adam!

Of all of the people on the show Adam was the one who I liked because he had no sense of entitlement, he did not feel he deserved better, he was prepared to work his way up to get to where he wanted. I really hope he succeeds in life.

Matt Webb, scruffy oik, turned up at interviews looking like Worzel Gummidge and reeking of tobacco.

HR Bint and other fat salesman both overstating their worth too.

    They will struggle.

  • You lot don't deserve me.

    I've thanked you.

I hope you feel a little more appreciated now ;):p

  • Yes, until you've lived in those shoes you've no idea....

I always have a fag before an interview :)
    And again straight afterwards.

Do you want to own/possess somebody, or give them a job enabling your company to meet its objectives?

I have only recruited procurement professionals but I would guess the same principle would apply. I would like to think whoever I employed would represent the company and would appear professional. Someone who smokes, rightly or wrongly, I would expect to be taking a dozen or so fag breaks a day and turning up for meetings with important clients reeking of cigarettes if they turned up at an interview reeking of them.

Up at 5.30 and off to a proper face to face. Matt Webb has an interview, his 2nd in six months. He believes he shines in interviews and here was an opportunity to sell himself. It's a face to face interview to put across his enthusiasm . He's at the Cambridge Science Park.

He's not sure how it went, half of him says he blew it, half says he's OK. He thinks "good try, but no cigar"

5 days later he was told he hadn't got the job

Not shaved, old suit, what was he thinking?!!
Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Give me half a day with the marketing man and the sales man combined and I'd get them something ... with those skills there's no reason to be unemployed, they just need to pick a marketable and saleable product. I see lots of things that are not being marketed that could be taken to market by anybody who has good sales ability, with a good marketing strategy behind it ... for free too. Don't think you HAVE to have money to start out, but you DO need some skill that converts a good product into a market and a close.

Give me a good marketing person - and a good sales person - and then it's just down to research and skills matching. Bring it on. I could do that. And I'd not charge £85. I'd do it simply because I believe I can.

I can't "sell" and I couldn't operate alone, but I can wind up the right people and give them the research results.

Well educated in well paid jobs, trouble was they didn't think it was ever going to rain. Well it's pi55ing down for some now.

Some were living beyond their means big time and deserve no sympathy.
