    And the woman's version.....

What's yours is mine and what's mine is my own:rotfl:

The man's reply - changes locks, fills suitcase with her clothes and dumps them on doorstep and ignores her moaning and shouting -> then goes to meet more decent women
  • When I bought my car through the scrappage scheme, because it was brothers car that I scrapped he had to become the registered owner until we got the logbook back and I could change it. Since it was only going to be in his name for a couple of weeks at the most I thought I could get away with just insuring it in my name (especially since to insure my brother costs a bomb) but nobody would take me as the main policy holder, it had to be my brother who insured the car. That might just have been the companies that I tried but I tried a lot.

Dont imagine that PSA will want anyone other than the named on the finance agreement being the registered keeper.

You will still be able to insure it, but some insurance cos will load the premium (or refuse cover) if the registered keeper is not the policy holder

I was the registered keeper of our previous car but the finance was in MrsLA's name, no problem.

If you are married insurers don't care who is the keeper.

    LandyAndy is correct.

For those that aren't married, there are a couple of insurance companies that will insure your as a policy holder on a car that you don't own.

If it is an issue you can change the name on the V5C after the finance documents have been issued. The finance company won't get informed, and they generally won't care as they will have logged their interest on HPI or other such databases.
    The man without a signature.

Good - I was hoping this was the case. [STRIKE]We[/STRIKE] He gets 7 days free insurance from Citroen.

I was hoping to keep my protected NCB. Mr Watcher travels as part of his job and therefore has had a fair few bumps over the years (mainly people running into him from behind). I imagine if the insurance was taken out in his name then the premiums would be horrendous. I will be the main driver with him maybe using it for a hour every couple of weeks.

Thanks for your advice everyone. Much appreciated. :T

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • Here's how we resolved it just in case anyone else comes across the same problem.

OH has taken out the finance on the car BUT has gifted the vehicle straight to me as his spouse, therefore the car can be registered in my name as the first owner. No problem now with the insurance - it's just a substitution from the old car to the new.

  • Only just read this thread but normally the finance company aren't bothered if its registered to a spouse (Can't speak for insurance companies tho).
Alternatively the dealer could have just the changed the finance to be in your name. 9/10 assuming you are using a joint account to make the payments if one passes finance the other will.

I think for most intents and purposes if you are married then you are considered as the same entity. So you can insure something that your husband purchased and visa versa, same goes when being considered for finance: whats mine is yours etc.
