Well thata where I had my laser treatment, but I didn't have wavefront, so I cant give you an opinion on that. Basically every Clinic will tell you that their laser machine is the best. Have you visited the website www.lasik-eyes.co.uk There is loads of info on all the clinics, surgeons and different treatments available. There is also a very good forum where you can post questions which are very often answered by Optometrists. It helped me a lot before I had my treatment.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

I am going to reconsider Optimax - they have a different more experienced surgeon than my last consultation over 2years ago and offer intralase too.
Spoke to theclinic who said they will match there Ebay Optimax offers in store for me - but is there any other way i can get more discounts from Optimax? (I have £5 in tesco voucher too!)0 -

Not bothering with Optimax. Decided its between Optical Express or Ultralase.
OE seem to be current preferred choice as they have a "resident" surgeon compared to UL whose surgeons only visit a few days/month.
DAK whats the best way to get OE discount? I asked the advisor if i can get some discount on price - he said noIf any one knows and codes where i can get 10% of the price or even from Ultralase would be very grateful,
thanks0 -
Hi Mutley
I get 10% discount at UL through work benefits package but decided I much preferred OE.
They were cheaper even without but you've always got to try wangling for a discount haven't you... so after doing a bit of digging around I discovered that they do a corporate eyecare programme and through this they offer 10% for laser eye surgery.
I made enquiries to my employer asking if they'd sign up for it (doesn't cost them anything) but haven't yet heard anything back (big company so these things take time I guess). But I mentioned this to OE and said they probably would sign up but I didn't know when they'd manage to get the scheme implemented and I wanted my surgery done in the next month or two.... without further prompting from me, the nice advisor lady said she'd go away and have a chat with her manager and see if there was anything they could do for me. Few days later I got a call back saying they'd give me the 10% discount :j
So I'd say perhaps try this tactic0 -
I had undergone a lasik eye surgery in both my eyes in 2001,in India, it cost me £330 for the surgery+hospital bills+drs fees+eye drops=all inclusive and I have had no problems, following my example, around 15 people who I know personally have got it done, from the same doctor/clinic and none of them have had any problems.
I am not sure if I am suppose to name the dr and the clinic in the forum, so if anyone wants details pls pm me and I will pass on the details.Although people have posted webaddresses, so I think it is okay to post their website.

http://www.newvisionindia.com/nri.htm fees mentioned in here, £400 for both the eyes.
I had a good holiday in India on my stay and was walking normal after 2 days, and in all(airline ticket+holiday stay+surgery) it costed me around £800!

Hello
What is the minimum age for Laser Eye Surgery? Also, what age would you say is too young to get it done?
Has anyone got a rough cost of vision correction in both eyes?
Thanks!0 -
I can't preach enough about the new Ortho-K scheme i'm on... ITS GREAT!!!!!
I was considering laser treatment as i was so fed up of wearing glasses for the past 10 years and my eyesight is pretty awful without. I had gone to many consultations with various companies... Optimax, Centre for Sight etc. They had all said that i would need to wait until my prescription had stop changing over a 2 year period otherwise the laser treatment would be pointless, so fair enough i waited.
In the meantime my other half was watching TV one day when he came across an article on Ortho-K. As some of you might be aware or maybe not.. it is a process of wearing hard gas permeable lenses will you sleep ONLY which reshape your eyes. Put them in at night take them out in the morning and hey presto 20:20 vision all throughout the day without wearing a thing!! They are also in the process of developing fixing lotions so you can put them in for a night or two and have perfect vision for a few months at a time!!
Check it out.... http://www.orthoklenses.com/
Price for consultation cost me £100 and then all I pay is £35 a month which isn't too much more than normal contact lenses and believe me its well worth it!!!
Hi im thinking of taking this treament as it sounds really good, but on some forums the initial consultation has been over £300, so just wanted to know if you do go through the website you have quoted- if all the prices are the same? as if it is only £100 for the set up i will definately do it but £300 is a little steep, and the monthly dd is for what??? sorry to ask so many questions , and is this for the rest of your life or does it eventually cure your eyes in full???? thanks :cheesy:0 -

Why aren't you bothering with Optimax muttley74? I am hoping to get my eyes done in Newcastle and would be interested to hear your experiences if you wouldn't mind reporting back. I am really nervous about getting it done but I'm fed up with lenses.0
