old portable TV & set top box

Hi, my son will be starting uni next week & wants to keep his old TV/video. Currently this is connected to sky multiroom.

We have offered to get him a new TV/DVD for uni but due to no. of old videos he would prefer to keep the 1 he's got, still works perfectly.

Question is will we be able to just get a set top box for it.(It has got scart connection)
It used to have a small aeriel attached but obviously never used. Think it is in the garage somewhere.

Thanks in advance

Yes, all digiboxes will work through a SCART connection.
If I was him, I would acccept your kind offer of a free TV/DVD and just pick up a video recorder for free on Freecycle/Freegle.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks for that. Managed to find the old aerial & it still works fine. I know he is just trying to save us some money as we will be subsidinsing him quite a bit until he manages to find a job.

Bear in mind that it may well not work on an indoor aerial at his new locations-all depends on the signal available.

He's probably better off with an old telly for now - you don't know where he'll be living over the next few years nor who with, neither do you know what sort of people his and his housemates acquaintances will be - so better safe than sorry.

A friend of mine lives in a shared house (all working people) and unfortunately while he was on holiday one his housemates had a friend staying there - someone left a small window open one evening and next day the 32" LCD TV had gone along with a macbook air (which then turned up a few weeks later in the local CEX store - no sign of the telly tho they did eventually catch the culprits).
