Need a new broadband deal - anyone evangelical about theirs?

Hi, I have a contract for mobile including free broadband with Orange which expires soon and am thinking of switching to another provider. Know nothing technical about speeds etc - just use home internet for browsing and occasionally watch iPlayer. My current package with Orange is £25/month but often end up spending more than this. Will post this in the mobile phones forum too.

Anyone feeling evangelical about a recent deal or has a particularly good experience with their provider? I find the Orange broadband quite slow but we do have quite an old computer. We have recently moved and are locked into a 12 month contract with BT for the phoneline so don't think I can change that - unless anyone knows any different?

Sorry I'm completely ignorant about any of this!

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Look at your exchange's LLU options on samknows.com
Not really possible to make recommendations without knowing what exchange you are on and what is available on it.

I live in my own flat and saw that 02 were doing a brilliant offer - if you are an 02 customer u can get 3 months free, £7.34 p/m (for the basic package) thereafter if you have a mobile account (can be either PAYG or a monthly contract) and you can get £50 cashback if you do it through Top Cash Back website.

I just used my sister's mobile number as she is on 02 and I benefited from the reduced rate

Their service is amazing - really fast, reliable and good customer services too!

Samknows doesn't give all the possibilities.
It didn't and still doesn't say that Newnet is available through my exchange although I had it three years ago, and it was good.
The only reason I changed was expense.

Plusnet is a lot cheaper gives a larger download limit each month and download speed is on a par.
Never had any problem with either.

I'd recommend Plusnet value to an average surfer and occasional downloader or watcher of youtube etc.

Works for me.

I agree,. just swapping to O2.

3 months free + 7.34 a month + £50 quidco = 1 years 8 Meg broadband for around £16. All you need is an O2 phone to receive texts which luckily I had. They will advise minimum requirements I think its £10 a quarter top up, but may be wrong didn't enquire too much)

No download limits with O2. I've found the service good.

Got to go with the votes for o2, can't fault them. Worth getting cheap o2 payg mobile to benefit from the cheaper rates, they've a Samsung for £20.00 and not a bad phone for topping up £10.00 every three months on.

there are also some good cash back offers too.

I've been with them for about a year now - very good indeed.

I'm waiting for my broadband to go live with O2, having had UTV Internet for a number of years through work. So far I've been really impressed with the way they are keeping me informed every step of the way and if their customer contact reflects their internet service then I reckon it'll be great. Plus cashback, plus discount for having an O2 mobile, happy days!
