    paint.net will do a fine job :)

I really cant see what the fuss is about GIMP, apart from it being open-source, right ;).

Picasa is far more user friendly, in a couple of clicks you can remove red-eye, balance photos, add effects. It's a very neat piece of software from Google, no comparison with Irfanview IMO.

If you just want an image editor with no fancy help or library functions, Paint.net is excellent.

How do I undo the changes on the photographs?
I have found out how to alter and undo some of the changes but occasionally the pictures been saved with the changes before I am ready. :(

Is there a original still stored on picasa or do I have to back up he original picture myself?

I've been sorting my pictures out and had no internet access and thought I'd got it wrong big time. I couldn't find anything without being on-line?
