O2 PAYG Unlimited Tarriff help.

I'm thinking of changing to the o2 Unlimited as I only ever talk to 3 or 4 people and they are all on o2, I tend to use my phone more for internet.

I currently top up £30 each month to get my unlimited texts and £7.50 is taken out of that for my web bolt on.

If I changed to O2 Unlimited would the Web bolt on be taken out of the £15 I would be topping up to get the free calls and texts?

(In response to a previous topic unlimited is actually limited but i doubt im that much of a textaholic)

You may be in luck... there's an interesting new o2 tariff that they've just announced on Twitter (for people who don't use voice minutes much):
O2: Join our new Pay & Go tariff Text & Web before 31 Oct, top up £15/month & get unlimited UK texts and web access!

    http://dnc.o2.co.uk/home/2009/09/text-web-launch.html
Apparently it's normally £30 a month top-up, but join before the end of October, and it's £15.

I didnt use voice minutes much so would of been perfect for me but im starting to use more voice minutes now. Ill look into it cheers!

Had a look at the offer and it could be a good alternative to the other option.

    TEXT AND WEB
£15 Top up = Free web & Free Unlimited Texts
Use £7.50 for Family bolt on for Free calls and texts to the 4 O2 numbers i would Call the most.

    OR

    O2 UNLIMITED
£15 Top up = Unlimited Calls to O2 & Unlimited Texts
Use £7.50 for Web bolt on.

Both interesting options but which is the better deal?

The costs would be the same depending on my original question:

Would the bolt on be part of the original £15 top up or would i need to add the extra £7.50

  • I don't know for sure (I'm on o2 contract these days) but as I understand it the 'o2 unlimited' and 'text and web' are Pay & Go Tariffs, so you get free stuff for just topping up subject to their terms and conditions.

The Bolt-ons are usually taken off the balance, so I would expect that you wouldn't need to pay anything extra if you have enough credit on your balance. At least, that's how it worked when I was using o2 Pay & Go...
    O2 UNLIMITED
£15 Top up = Unlimited Calls to O2 & Unlimited Texts
Use £7.50 for Web bolt on.
I just took at a look at the Terms and Conditions for o2 Unlimited and it seems the unlimited texts are only to o2 phones too, so as long as you're calling and texting only people on o2 then it'd be a decent one to choose.

The unlimited texts on the new tariff aren't restricted to o2 numbers, so if you text other networks a lot as well, then Text and Web plus o2 family might be a better option. The thing to note with o2 family is that everyone nominated in the group will benefit from free texts and calls to other members of that group too.

So the top-up costs may be the same, but getting the most out of each will be down to who you call and text the most.

I would go through a 1000 texts and mins quite easily, i prefer to be on an unlimited package.
