How to leave BT Broadband and Phone?

Options
I've been all over BT's website looking on how to leave them - I did find a page that said about giving 10 day's notice, but then another page told me it was 30 days notice!

My contract is due to end with them on 13th October and I really, really don't want to be with them one day longer than I have to...the service has been shockingly slow despite their bb page declaring 'no speed loss throughout the day, even at peak times' - well, I've done enough troubleshooting with them to know that's a big fib....

Anyone know the best and fastest way to do this?:D

    Hi dollydiva,

I am happy to help with any issues that you are having with your BT account. Send an email to forum.moderation.team@bt.com and include all of your BT account information and a mobile number to reach you. Alternatively you can PM your details if that suits you better.

    Many Thanks

30 days notice is the normal term for most ISP's.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Its 14 days notice to cancel. but if your moving to another service provider and keeping the same number then the new provider will give the notice for you.
Remember to ask for a MAC and not to cancel the broadband.(this is not the case if moving to virgin cable though as you dont need a MAC)
  • I'm wanting to move my phone and bb over to Sky...it's so much cheaper I'd be a fool to stay with BT which is costing me £106.42 BEFORE VAT a quarter - that's around £122. I've been with BT for my phone since 1988 and with dial up and then bb since 1997, but the charges are now beyond a joke.

This coupled with the WORST troubleshooting I've ever had the misfortune to go through...Agents who lied to me, cut me off, were ignorant and just downright rude.

So long, and thanks for all the fish BT.

So if you want to migrate your broadband you just need to ask BT for a MAC. If you just cancel your broadband, then you will have a gap before Sky can reconnect you.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
