Hi all,

Very new to this forum. I have just got a 9 week old kitten who needs all of his vaccinations etc. This is my first kitten on my own but I've had kittens since I was 2 years old at my parents house.

I've just seen a company called Vets4Pets who are offering vacinations for £10.

Has anyone used this company and are they ok?

I used Vets 4 Pets for my Staff for her vaccinations and it was good. They have a nice big pratice and it all seems clean and modern. I paid £99 for the boosters for life. The Vet was very friendly and proffesional. To be honest it seemed better than the local independent one I use to go.

I have heard good and bad things about them. They are very cheap for things like vaccinations etc as they mega bulk buy them but they try to make commission in other ways by trying to sell you loads of stuff (or so I have heard). Cant comment on it much really just hearsay

£10 vaccines must be a loss-leader so they will be putting the prices up elsewhere. Check the small print. I have no intention of trying to compete with them on price but rather go for quality of service & care. I can't buy my vaccine for £10 with VAT included.

I have used Vets4pets for the past 6 years due to their vaccination for life offer they have. However I will no longer be taking any of my other small animals there because they charge a fortune for everything else. I have been severly disappointed the last few times I have taken my dogs there. Since ringing round other practices for quotes, I have realised just how much they take the mick!

I always thought they get them so cheap as they have such buying power being a national franchise, but it does sound like a loss leader. I'd ring round your local vets and get quotes for neutering and vaccinations (and ask around to see if your neighbours can reccomend a good one). If other things are expensive it could be a false ecomomy. (good to see you back Snowman2 by the way).

Of course they're going to find ways to claw the money back (so to speak), but just navigate this by taking your animal there for vaccinations & elsewhere for everything else. The cheapest vaccinations in my area are £40, so the extra effort in going to a different vet just for vaccines would be worth it for the saving. There isn't one near me, though.

You could be registered with thirty if you wanted to be. You're paying so you can go where you like for whatever you like.

The only problem may be if you need to supply a medical history for insurance purposes, but if you keep good records of where you've been that shouldn't be too difficult.

I have used vets for pets for my dog (north east ) i could only recomend them paid for puppy needles and an extra £75 for there vac. for life scheme also had her spayed there. And have phoned for advice on a few ocasions which has been great .There was no oh you better let me take a look at her bring her in . often pop in to pop her on scales to check weight for drontal which i buy from pet supermarket...

Thanks for all the replies. They seem to be much cheaper for vacinations, neutering and microchipping than anywhere else close to me.

My lcoal vet that my parents use want £38 per vaccination, £45 for microchipping and £75 for neutering whereas Vets4Pets are asking £10 per vaccination, £26.50 for microchipping and £40 for neutering. It's such a big saving...I'll just let them know that I don't intend to buy anything else from them.

I've registered with my local vets incase of emergency and with Vets4Pets for the vaccinations etc.
