Obviously less than ful size trees, but yes, they're worth it IMHO. They can still produce a lot considering their size.0

Just a quick question, do your dwaft fruit trees produce a lot of fruit?
I know they're an investment because they should last yrs but dont want to buy one then not get much off it.
I'm looking for a apple, pear & cherry to grow in pots on my patio which is approx 12 x 3m
Just do not expect them ever to look like the photo-pawn that you see in the catalogues or on-line.
As important as how much can they produce is how much would you actually eat? My two apple trees can produce 60 good apples that need eating over an 8-10 week period plus some second grade stuff. Do I want to eat an apple a day when I am already eating loads of soft fruit?
I end up giving some away instead. Much better to gave 60 apples that I can eat over 20 weeks or more. Much more like it. So choose varieties that store and come to harvest over time.
My small garden is 4.5metres times 10, so not a lot bigger than yours and I have two big espaliers. Have you considered cordon trees on one wall? Much easier and more productive, at least for the apple and pears. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Hi, obviously I've only just got my trees so I don't know how much fruit I'm going to get, but the four of them would definitely fit on your patio. I've got mine in containers because we're probably going to move soon and I want to be able to take them with me, and in containers you can put them a lot closer together than you can in the ground. At the moment, they hardly take up any room at all.I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

On my allotment I have inhertited an 8ft apple tree, 6ft plum tree, a gooseberry bush and what I think is a blackcurrant bush. I have strawberry plants already in my yard so I'll be taking them over. I also have a grape vine! God knows what I'll do with that! any advice?? Most books seem to suggest it would need a greenhouse which I don't have yet.
I was under the impression that I might need 2 or 3 gooseberry and blackcurrent bushes for pollenation?? Or is this just a blueberry rule?
I fancy raspberries too though, going to look for some canes for next yearComp wins 2014: £30 Gu Pud Vouchers0 -

Blackmoor nursery is just what I was looking for, great selection, was looking for an apple tree but I think I will go for a cobnut tree- you can get apples anywhere!Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -

Yes but would you want to eat them ?
See advice about root stock/ germination /cordons /fans etc etc
But what about taste. Find a tree that produces something that you like.

Agree in part about apples, but if space permits then a less common variety would be nice, one you never find in supermarkets perhaps, like good old James Grieve, doesn't keep or travel well, but one off the tree in September is heavenly
I already have apple tree, variety unknown, which is why I chose dwarf cherry, peach & apricot from BlackmoorEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
