Hey sorry for the delay in replying. I haven't checked my diary for a while.

To be honest I don't know what I am going to do with the spare cash that will become available once ive repaid my debt. I was going to start saving up for a laptop, but my uncle gave me his old one for free last night!! I couldnt believe it, it's a Dell aswell and wont have been cheap. Im so lucky.

I stopped smoking on 29.11.09 and have been completely smoke free for 8 days now. So this will save me a packet in the long run. And this time I know I have cracked it because I was on a night out on Sat and didn't smoke then and if I can deal with that situation I can deal with any. I'm almost beginning to forget about smoking and starting to think of myself as a non smoker!! This is one of the best things ive ever done. Its a great feeling.

One week on Wednesday and my loan will be fully repaid! That means Christmas and New Year debt free and smoke free. I've upgraded my entire life. Then it's into 2010 with a bang!! There's a few things I may save up for, but just so pleased to have got back on my life back on track.

All that's missing now is a girlfriend :(

    :T:T:T

    Well done !!!
  • Thanks again for everyones support! I will be completely debt free on Wednesday. Cant believe it. Its been a long time coming, but Im finally there. Good luck to everyone else on here that is trying to get out of debt. Im proof that it can be done

Hey there - thought I'd drop in after you were so kind as to read some of my rambling diary chat :rotfl:

I've read through your thread and it is a refreshing change to see someone diarising about the tail end of their debt as opposed to several years worth of struggle (I'm guilty of this myself!) It's a bit like watching the end of a film, as it's normally the best bit :)

I also noticed some similarities between you fixing your debts and the reasons I had for doing the same, as I also started really sorting myself out after the end of a relationship. That said, my reasons were slightly different as I had a new GF and didn't want to burden her with the same old money worries that my ex had to put up with...

Glad to see you're nearly there - my GF is also soon to be debt free and it's great to see that 2009 hasn't been crap for everyone.
  • I noticed you are from Bromley...I was born in Sidcup! Small world. Living up North now though.

I will be glad to see the back of this year, it's been an eventful one. Looking forward to 2010 with a clean slate.

I agree with you on the point you made about not wanting to burden your girlfriend with your debt. I am currently single, but if I meet someone new, I will be able to treat them to things/ afford to do more with them and being debt-free will mean a lot less strain on any future relationship.

Thanks for your reply and good luck.
