About 5 years ago when I bought my present lappy from them, all that I could get off them was one of their "Top of the range" leather cases to put it in and a box of floppies and that was for a fifteen hundred quid machine.
They would not budge for a cash discount. Things may have changed nowadays, go for it.

They dont get targeted on collect at store , its just that collect at store is already discounted stock and can not be discounted any more , if you do manage it well done as the assisstant will prob get a bollocking for doing it, or you've just got the manager on a good day were he has the discount to play with.
If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway

This really annoys me , CASH SALE ? how many people out there acctually know that this doesnt work any more ! in the "olden days" cash was good , now it cheaper for retail companys if the customer pays by card thats why everyone laughs at you i store when you say , " im paying cash , what discount do i get " paying by cash costs the store money !

    sorry for the spelling

Warranties are very, very profitable. See what deals you can get if you're taking the warranty and then cancel during the 14 day cool off period.

I have to agree with Tim... although actually I could also be pedantic in pointing out that pedantry is more about pointing out slight differences in things and haggling and bartering are quite different activities. ;-)

If it's a collect in store then you've already told PC World you want the item so it's very unlikely you'll get a discount or freebie :9

If the item is in stock and the difference between instore and online price is not too much, then go down the extended warranty route. and try to beat the online price. You can always cancel the warranty within 14 days (I thnink) and your discount price is still good!

ok so i went haggling (apologies for using the wrong erm .. i offered him my 3 goats, but hedidnt want them)

I got the advent 7096 widescreen laptop
    here
£530 in the shop, £500 on the net.
Collected in store, asked him about any deals, and after not much discussion, i got a Dlink wireless modem router and usb dongle reduced from 59.99 to 49.99 and i got a 8.99 webcam for free!!
Pretty good job i reckon :-)
Lovely laptop, havnt successfully set up wireless, having problems with isp giving me details. Webcam is ideal for my laptop!
    Thanks :)
