bartering at pc world?

Im going to buy a laptop tomorrow at PC world, Ive got a Web exclusive that I will collect in store, but Im wondering what power I have to try and get a discount / free stuff. Such as webcam, headset.
This weekend, I went into my local dixons, someone was buying a laptop, andm naged to get a free 250gb external hard drive!!
I know these two places are linked somehow, so is it worth me trying it ?
Any advice greatly appreciated :)
Laurie

well I was maybe thinking somebody who works there might say, theres a limit to how much they can do, certain phrases.
I dunno, Martin's Tips sometimes suggest what to say, so maybe somebody had some tips as to what to say at PC World.
After all, this forum is about money saving and sharing tips as how to do that ;)

Have you already bought it online? If not, make sure you buy it through Quidco, as you'll get an extra 5% cashback!

What did you expect with that kind of question, I mean did it need a post on a forum or didnt it enter your mind to just ask.

    Hope it goes well though.

    Having a bad day?

Definitely worth a go. There's some luck involved as to which Sales Assistant you talk to though.

You should not seem too keen to buy and say you have seen other offers with a free xxxxx and ask them whether they can do a deal to get you to buy today.

Point of pedantry, bartering is offering something in exchange for something else. Hence you might barter 3 goats for a laptop PC. What you actually want to be doing is "haggling".

I think sales assistants on comission plays apart if there is any 'give' in the retail price - How many times when you've purchased a large electrical item, have you been offered a reduction for taking the warranty???
PC World assistants, i was told in-store, don't work on comission - unlike at Comet for example.
I can walk around PC World all afternoon without an employee aproaching me, or half half a foot in the door and be pounced on at Comet!
The only advise i've been given in a PC World store, when questioning a price recently, is to go on their website and reserve at the internet price for collect at store!
Me's guessing that perhaps they are targeted on the number of 'collect at stores' they recieve?
I will ramble no longer, as reading the above seems like waffle to me - Good Luck
