Lost phone

I cannot find my phone and the last time i had it was yesterday when i was out. If i report it as lost and it happens to turn up in the house, would the phone company unblock it or does it mean i have to buy a new phone, its a contract phone on the 3 network, thanks
And yes the lady in the avatar is me

    Hi Achtung,
Why not ring 3 and ask if it has been used since yesterday and explain whats happened and see what they say.
I'm pretty sure my daughters was unblocked after she got hers back ...but that was on O2

Yes , they can unblock it if you find it.

But you should ring them right away, you're liable for any calls made until you do. Some little g** could be calling on it now and you'll have pay for it.

My understanding is that once it's IMEI blocked, it is locked forever. But you shouldn't be deliberating on that, until you report it lost you are liable for all the calls made, which could amount to thousands if used for overseas calls, you need to report it immediately to your provider. In 24 hours it could have been used extensively.

  • Hi and thanks for your replies, i have just got off the phone to 3 who will block the sim card to stop any calls being made, i asked when the phone was last used and they said it was yesterday around the time i lost it (i opened a text message) so i have a feeling its in the house somewhere.
If i find the phone they will unblock the sim for me which will take 4 hours to do, if i dont find the phone, they are offering me a replacement which will mean extending my contract for a further 6 months and if i want a replacement sim card then its £4.89

The IMEI can be unblocked (I can do it on my system at work). If it's been blocked a while it can take some time to be effective on all the network as the info has to migrate round them all and the info is only shared a few times a week.

And yes, you need to call asap. I've seen a grand racked up over night if the wrong group gets hold of a 'lost' phone.

Sorry if this is stating the obvious, but if it is switched on then have you tried calling it?
