Hi money savers.
If i have a good unlocked phone already, can i get a really cheap contract phone and put the new contract SIM in my existing unlocked/SIM free phone without problems. Would the contract company even know i was making the calls from a different phone to what the SIM was meant to be used with and would they even care?

Every contract phone I've ever been provided with has said in effect "...the phone is yours as soon as you enter into the contract.."
There may be a (fairly minor) impediment to you using a different network's card in it by their locking to the original network, but this is quite easily overcome - either free (see the unlocking threads), or via a trip to a local shop/market stall for up to a tenner.
Buyers will readily accept an unwanted unlocked phone offered on eBay, and you can make a profit from selling the handset that way if it's not required elsewhere.0
