Just found out we're pregnant...

Not all doctors prescribe folic acid- mine didn't, but I took the standard Boots stuff.
Ideally take it before you conceive for 3 months, but if you have not been doing so then start ASAP and take til 12th week.
All the best.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Try not to worry too much. Your post took me back to early 1995 when I found out I was pregnant. We;d just moved abroad and started new jobs. I spent about a week crying and my other half in shock. But after seeing the baby on a scan everything changed and we now have a beautiful daughter - nearly 14 - and 11 year old son as well. Don't worry about taking pills and things. Just eat normal healthy food and you;ll be fine. All the best0

Thanks everyone

Congratulations!
If you don't mind second hand stuff then join Freecycle now as you will be able to kit yourselves out for free with everything you need for the baby - pram, cot etc there are always tonnes on there but you need to be quick!

Hi, I am a freecycle member and will keep an eye out. Early days at the moment, so don't want to do anything just yet... will wait until first scan.
Don't suppose anyone has a list of must haves?
Thanks

If you're planning on breastfeeding I'd recommend taking this for the duration of your pregnancy and post-natal, just so your body has everything it needs.Need to start taking some vitamins/folic acid, etc and found "Pregnacare" - about £12 for three months worth.
Babies are awesome by the way!! Ours is just 6 months
My OH wants to know why it was a surprise?,___,

Seconded - I got a silver cross 3d jet sport - they are £350 brand new and it was in excellent condition.
I took the Tesco preg vitamins throughout my pregnancy as my diet is crap.
Must haves - somewhere to sleep (will be in ur room at first so moses basket or carrycot) a pram/pushchair, car seat (if u have a car), clothes, something to eat.
There are things u can get to make life a bit easier like a changing unit or a baby bath but these aren't essentials by any means.
Def get urself on pregnancy thread - they're a good bunch

Invest in lots of vests and baby-gros and muslins - little ones won't be wearing proper clothes much initially except for when you want to show them off.
Baby swings are a godsend for getting them to sleep!
