    Hi again everyone.
Has anyone received an email or telephone confirmation yet?

i received a letter of confirmation a few days ago

bit of a shocking note at the bottom though, appearantly if i don't cancel a week in advance i'll be charged 50 quid if i don't show up!

not sure what they're on about there other than maybe this is a standard form they use for group bookings where a deposit is paid in advance... still bit weird reading that :p

I am registered as a home schooler because i am in scotland and my children attended mainstream school for more than one day (this is the law in scotland) so you have to inform the local authority.

actually, that's true if you're in the same LA's area, if you move to another area you don't have to register.

when i moved back to scotland (we'd been in the netherlands nearly a year) i didn't have to register my daughter when i began to HE her because she wasn't in her previous LA's area but also she wasn't registered to a school in the UK

i've just moved again to another LA so even if she'd gone to school in my old town i wouldn't have to register her here as it's a different area if that makes sense

i've chosen not to register as i don't want anyone shoving their noses in (we're doing HE due to some trauma my wee one suffered, them sticking their noses in and being generally horrid won't help her one iota!) but also i'm planning to go back to uni next year full time so she'll have to return to school then and i really don't see the point in dealing with their shenanigans only to have her back in their hands again soon enough (wish it were otherwise but i'm a single mum, ultimately me getting a degree will benefit us both more in the long run)....

not sure what the law is in england, wales and northern ireland but i believe scotland has a more flexible approach than the other countries in the uk
