Calling all Home Schoolers!
Don't forget to book for National Schools Film Week chaps!
Welcome to National Schools Film Week!
The world's largest festival for cinema & young people
This year’s dates are:
England, Wales & Northern Ireland – 15-23 October 2009
Scotland: 2-6 November 2009
As Home Schoolers you are just as entitled to the Free Film as the mainstream schools.
Go to http://www.nsfw.org/index.php for details and click on Booking at the bottom.
There are a range of films available to go and see with your family. We normally gather together a bunch of children and their parents and book all of us for free.
We then use the education resource they provide (download) to talk about the film and help the children learn about whatever aspect is being highlighted for the film.
We've been doing this for a number of years now.
Go have an explore of the site at http://www.nsfw.org/index.php
Read the other pages there to see how the cinema can help in your teaching.

Among this years choices are:
Coraline

.... and many more!
Each cinema has it's own allotted films, so if your local one is not showing what you want or like, try a neighbouring town.** Freebies and money saved with the help of you all? - Don't know ....lost count! **** Stay Safe **0 -

On the form there are fields to fill in with your/the school name and address etc.
I'm sure that if you are a registered Home Educator & you put in your official registration details they will be (or should be!!!!) verified/processed in exactly the same way as any state school etc. (and personally, I for one would take issue with them if they were not!!).
If you are a home edder. just go for it - is great post and great opportunity - and they ob. have means to verify you (as should be!) so you shouldn't miss out.
Have career/background in 'Out of School Care Groups' (and inspections of) and find to the greater part that almost all things offered to schools and home edders are also available to groups/centres who do not fall into the category of 'mainstream schooling' as long as you explain who you are and give them your registered details.0 -

In those sections I fill in Home School or Home Educator.
No one has ever queried me or asked for anything even when I phoned up to speak to them once.
Should another person do it, then they would have to take their child out of school for the day...... and that stirs up a whole new barrel of worms..... Umm, telling Miss on you....** Freebies and money saved with the help of you all? - Don't know ....lost count! **** Stay Safe **0 -
