I do not buy newspapers (except if there is some useful voucher in it).

I tend to use oil rather than butter/marg, it works well:)

Sorry for the questions but I'm new to cooking and baking, and I'm delighted to have discovered this forum, loads of helpful advice!
I have made apple crumble and also shortbread today, both recipes used a lot of butter, would you have made these using oil? If so, what type of oil? Thanks.
  • kitchen paper towels - use a cloth instead, can make these out of old clothes
face clothes - cut up old towels
sanitary napkins - use rags and wash or burn them
fabric softener/conditioner, I've never used it
newspapers, haven't bought one in years
TV, it will be next to go
  • We could easily give up TV and do consider this from time to time, as we only watch the News and 'Poirot' or 'Miss Marple' :D

We could just as easily get rid of the car. We both are lucky enough to walk to work and the shops. I suppose if we needed to go somewhere a bit further, we could get the bus or a taxi on the odd occasion.

I would not be happy about giving up my quilted toilet roll.

Newspapers - it's so easy to read the local rag online if I want, and main news is online or on TV - and..... chocolate! Though I still have an ocasional cup of cocoa, made like tea with water and a dash of milk, but without any sweetener in.

Working out how much money you save is a big incentive to quit, but it must be really hard with an OH who keeps on puffing!
