Boots for big calves?

  • I am looking for the opposite - anyone know of classic riding boot style knee high boots in a slimmer fitting size. I do not have massively skinny legs but none of them fit me last year in any shops. Again I love Duoboots but their prices are so scarey!! Should have coughed up in the sale but £75 in the sale was too much at the time.....

Marisota might have something that catches your eye:

I gritted my teeth and bought Duo a couple of years ago. They still look great.

I don't have fat calves but I do have very long legs so most boots are shaped too short for me which means I can't do them up. I once visited every shoe shop in Chester with a friend who will vouch for this!

Snap - what I wouldn't give for a pair of knee length boots that are actually knee length rather than calf length - very unflattering and end up falling down. I'm not even THAT tall! Having small feet seems to exacerbate things though, if your feet are small you are short with skinny calves apparently........

There is no fat on my calves but they are fairly muscular I have a 33" inside leg so boots are frustrating. I've been close to tears in Dolcis and Faith, unable to get a single pair of their boots on.

Don't know why they can't at least do two length/width fittings.

Jones the bootmaker are the best fit I've found so far........

Have you tried looking at actual horse riding boots???

They tend to be a bit taller and quite narrow too - quite why they make them narrow when horse riding tends to give you muscley legs I'll never know!!!

I agree, i think boots are an investment especially to get the right pair. DUO's are expensive but you cant go wrong with them and in the long term you will be laughing.

Ohhh so glad there are people out there with the same problem. I always have problems finding knee high boots that I can get past my fat calves (oh sorry shapely calves), even Next's wide fit don't fit me. I am only 5ft 4 and a size 8-10 with size 3 feet.

I did find a nice pair in House of Frazer (Nine West) for £129 but they only go down to a size 4 (boo). They actually fitted over my calves due to the fact they have a large V at the back of the boot, they were lovely.

  • Marisota do boots with different calf measurements....I've managed to get a pair to fit and I have rugby player's legs lol
;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)

  • Large calves boots....

New Look do 'wide fit' shoes, as a result their boots in the wide fit range fit wide calves

    www.simplybe.co.uk

    www.vivaladiva.co.uk

I have shopped in all these stores/sites.

Simply be have some fab deals on when they have a sale..i think they may have one on now

Vivaladiva is from the same shopping group as simply be but is dedicated to shoes, they have wide calves section- you can order a shoe pack - or at least you could witha tape measure and size guide so you can measure your feet and calves prior to ordering. Also, they usually offer 10% off 1st orders if you open an account (obviously pay off in full each month to avoid interest! and free returns too)

New Look boots start quite cheap £25-£30 I have a paid i have had for about 4 years, cost £25 and still going strong

Also, last year i found asda boots to be very roomy.

Also, try going up a size ie if you are a 6 try on a 7 with insoles in..you will be suprised at the sizes!
