Boots for big calves?

Hi there, loving the fashion tips (only just found this bit!! ;)).

Any one got any ideas for longish boots that fit large calves? I'd love a pair of really lush Duo boots, but my budget is miniscule - unlike my legs!

Thanks for any ideas!!

I believe Evans were suggested last time I saw this asked. A while ago ... so I could be wrong! And I'm sure there were other places mentioned.

Some of their prices are pretty reasonable too :)

Faith usually do some wide calf fitting boots. Also, if you wait until the sale you can get some good discounts at duo.

yes, definitely Evans. My DD buys hers from there
  • Don't get down if the Evans stuff doesn't fit you even then. It doesn't me, and I'm not THAT big. Most of Evans stuff seems to be aimed at big girls with enormous breasts, skinnyish legs and a 1980s fixation.

  • Thanks very much, everyone, I'll have a hunt around. Love Duo stuff, but a bit beyond my budget. Still, maybe the sales could be the answer as you say, skintlass. And I'll definitely check out the shoetailor site, thanks!

I gritted my teeth and bought Duo a couple of years ago. They still look great.

I don't have fat calves but I do have very long legs so most boots are shaped too short for me which means I can't do them up. I once visited every shoe shop in Chester with a friend who will vouch for this!

  • Thanks for the appreciation!

By the way, I was shopping in there last week (or rather, searching for something not as breathtakingly repulsive as their A/W range appears to be) and the sales bird came up to offer help. She tried her best, bless her, but she tried to direct me towards the hideous block colour bin bag tops and metallic tiger print leggings, saying 'These are the ones in the Beth Ditto Collection'.

!!!!!!? Since when has the prospect of looking like that manky bit of baggage ever been a good thing? I reckon she got the contract because she was about the only big bird around 18 months ago and being Kate Moss's mate (who is worshipped by Philip Green of Arcadia Group) helped.

That and the little point that I walked in there wearing tailored gear, slightly more of a vintage style than of the minute. There is nothing about me that would suggest to anyone that I would like to wear tiger print leggings - I hope.

Sigh. I'll just have to lose weight so I can be patronised by assistants at other shops instead.
