N97 or iphone ?

I know it's horses for courses, but which will be the best to have for next 18months, may be 2yrs.
I'm not so bothered with texts/minutes packages, more the technology aspect.

Buy either of those phones outright and use sim only contractss. No one is offering a good tariff on these phones.

You can do more with an N97, but it just isn't as flashy or slick as an iphone in terms of usability. I suggest you wait and very soon the N97 mini will be out with a slightly better user interface. Not long after that the Nokia x6 will be the next big thing, and it will be sporting the same type of screen as an iPhone (capacative). If you want something now, get a HTC hero. There are some really good deals for it.
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...

Forget the both of them the Nokia N900 is better than the Iphone 3GS, AND n97, it has a linux based Maemo OS, and is the upgrade to the N810 internet Tablet, but with 3g phone functionality built in (Android and UBUNTU linux were ported to the N810, as its's an open source platform, anyone can develop apps) There's also an OS called MERA, that lets you use Desktop Linux apps on the phone.

Also the N900 has the same chipset as the Palm Pre and the Iphone 3GS (A8 Cortex withOpen GL).
