Renting: disagreement with other tenant over room choice

First thing to note is that I realise this is quite childish and trivial, but I'm looking for a solution or example of what others in a similar situation done.
2 people are renting a 2 bedroom property. Both bedrooms are very similar but one is slightly more appealing to both people.
They're similar enough that one person paying a different price for the better room isn't really justifiable.
Any suggestions on how they would decide who gets what room or anything that could be taken into account in deciding which person it would be fairer on?

If they are both the same whats the arguement over?
Names out a hat would be the easiest option - its what i did when living with 5 other friends.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Swap halfway through the term, one with nicer room to pay more while they have it. But if it is cakes, one must cut and the other must choose.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

It's simply a slightly better (subjective really) view to wake up to in the morning and the storage solutions are different in them both (one has a large wardrobe, the other 2 smaller ones built in to the wall.
I think it will end up being a names from hat/toin coss as you suggest.DVardysShadow wrote: »Swap halfway through the term, one with nicer room to pay more while they have it. But if it is cakes, one must cut and the other must choose.
I had suggested a half way through the lease swap and it wasn't taken too seriously but i may suggest it again.Bought, not Brought0 -

We were going to do this (one room was alot smaller than the others), but when it came down to it the girl who had the small room said she couldnt be bothered to move everything.
If you can both be bothered with the hassle though it is a good option though! Other than that definatly just draw straws or names out a hat.
Hope you get the room you want!!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Random.
Auction (if there is an argument then being in one WILL be worth more to someone and there is a price fo that every time)
swap midterm.

Auction ... interesting idea, but whoever won would probably get whiney soon enough when they realised they got carried away.0

If you can't agree on this just wait till some of their other little habits annoy you.0

Toss a coin.
I'd be a little worried though how you're both going to get on long-term if the choice of similar rooms is causing this much worry from the outset. I'd get some ground rules in place.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

In any case, if one room is more attractive than the other it should be worth paying a little more in rent for it than the other one. Then toss a coin.
I have to say that this does bode ill for the future if you can't compromise on something that trivial at the very beginning.0 -
Agree with the above - toss a coin. It worries me this is problem enough to start a topic on. Can't wait for the next installment - Who buys the loo roll?0
