Faulty 3 phone problem

Hi all,

I've been with 3 for 5 years now and the first 4 years were great, no problems, CS sorted anything with one quick call, great signal.

Now for the last year its been a different story. Got my upgrade in Feb, signal started constantly dropping in every call which was extremely annoying. If I put my sim in a 4 year old LG phone it worked fine. So it must be the phone that's causing this. I have been constantly telling 3 that there is a problem with the phone. eventually they took it away to repair and sent it back with a new sim and ten times more problems than before.

Again I have been telling them there is a problem, to which they say there is nothing they can do about it. Until....

I had to make an emergency 999 call when someone at work was in a life threatening situation. The call kept dropping out as usual and it meant it took 30 minutes to get an ambulance, with constant ringing back, dropped calls no signal etc. This should have took about 2 minutes. (she was fine in the end, thanks to some fantastic paramedics)

I ring 3 and explain to them what has happened and suddenly they are willing to replace my phone as the signal problems are now a known issue and I am eligible for a different handset. However they only offer me the 2 worst handsets available, worse than what I was offered on upgrade and keep telling me that these are the only phones available to exchange.

Any ideas on how I can get a wider choice of handsets or get out of my contract? All I am asking for is a half decent mid range phone and they are not willing to offer me anything worth over about £70, my upgrade options were more around the £220 mark.
