                    Hello all,
I have no past experience with the cars fitted with immobiliser so I am clueless what is going on with my wife's car. Previously, when the unlock button on the keyfob was pressed, the lights on the car blinked and the door were opened automatically. This morning, when I tried to remotely unlock the car, the car lights didn't blink and the door didnt unlock. So, I opened the door manually with the key, but the ignition switch doesnt work either when I turn the key in ignition.
My wife tells me, the remote unlocking didnt work yesterday either but she was able to unlock the door manually and start the iginition. I have two key fobs and tried both but no luck.
Can somebody please suggest me what it could be. I recokon that the immobiliser could be activated for some reason, if so how could I deactivate it.
Best Regards,
SI

My partner had a similar problem with her motorbike a while ago and it turned out that the battery in the bike (not the key fob) was not charging properly, so get your car checked out - it may be an alternator problem or similar. If you boost charge the battery and the key fob works after that, you will have a good idea that it is the car battery.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

thanks babyshoes, I guess I need to call AA guys on next Saturday, in case they advise me to take it to garage. I wish I could have some free moments in my life.0

hey babyshoes, you are a star. I started my wife's car using a jump lead with my car and it did start, key fobs also seem to work remotely, so it is definitely car's battery. Now, the next question is that if it is alternator or the battery itself. I dont know how to rule out this now 0 0

Ask your nice local friendly garage to test your battery - doesn't take long Genie Genie

Next time aldi/lidl do the motoring stuff, you can get a battery/alternator tester for about £4.0

Cheaper to change the battery in the key fob first, if you can.
Easy to do, will cost about £3 for the key fob battery. If it still doesn't work keep the battery for when it does need replaced.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

now this is going to seem an odd answer but believe me it is true !!
We had a similar problem, key fob was not working to unlock car and after googling the problem a guy on a Toyota website mentioned his front door bell had got stuck in and the signal from that had blocked the key fob signal. I then had a look at our door bell and the little rubber finger part had stuck in - the bell was not ringing to tell us this - I unhooked the rubber button and amazingly the key fobs worked again!! The thing is that if I had got the car to the garage there would not have been a problem as we would not have been near the door bell.
 Hope this helps someone

I assume that would be a wireless doorbell then? Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19 Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
