the Windows sticker is for Windows. Is Outlook the trial version? If it is you need to buy it.

The problem is that most laptops just come with a trial version of Office, which includes Outlook, Word, Excel etc. Your trial has now expired, so you now have to buy a product key. This can be around £55 for the home and student edition, or if you can prove you are a student, then you can get a better edition for a bit less.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
1. Only bought the laptop yesterday so cant see a trial running out on start up

2. I brought the laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed should that not mean Word, outlook etc should be there
3. The product key is written on the Windows Vista Home premium sticker on the PC. This will not work ???????????????????????????????????????????I save so I can spend.0 -
Vista is an operating system, Office is an application, two different things with two different licence numbers. Usually you can skip the key bit to start a trial, alternatively download openoffice and/or thunderbird which are both free.!!

1. the trial lasts for 60days or 25 start ups (whichever comes first)1. Only bought the laptop yesterday so cant see a trial running out on start up

2. If you did a clean install of vista, the Manufacturer utilities, drivers, and office will not be loaded as they are not part of the 'vanilla' vista image.
Office uses a different set of product keys to vista, so however many times you try to enter the code, office will not accept the Vista code unless you buy an office licence key.
3. the vista home premium key on the laptop will only allow you to use vista home premium and will not be accepted in any other software0 -
Office home and student doesn't come with Outlook btw, cant say its that useful unless you have an exchange account somwhere or are running a PDA phone that supports its pda features. (both probably will have a copy of Outlook bundled with it).
Windows Mail or Thunderbird should sort your e-mail out both are free.
As said before Office is a completely different product alltogeather0 -
Where did you buy the computer from?
Was it PC World?
The reason I ask is that my sister recently bought a laptop (thinking it was brand new). When she got it home it had signs of wear etc.
If as you say the trial period is over it could be that the "previous owner" had already registered the software and the trial has now run out.0 -
It does say something about 25 starts...
Got the machine from the BT Shop
came with Vista already loaded
Will check out the free programmes aboveI save so I can spend.0
