Tried to turn my PC on to access all of my music but there's just nothing there. Tried the fuse in the plug but no joy.

Any suggestions please?

when you say nothing, you mean completely dead, no light, no noise?

If the fuse is ok, it is likely to be the power supply, which can be replaced for about a tenner or less, from ebuyer.com amongst others.

Has it been moved recently, if so, unlpug it, take the cover off, and make sure everything is seated correctly, and that the power putton on the front is touching the microswitch correctly.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

If you're getting nothing at all, the first thing I would suspect is a dead PSU (power supply unit). These can be replaced pretty cheaply.

I had this recently on an old machine of mine. I thought straight away that the PSU needed replacing. Just as well I had a good look first!

I opened the case, and found the start button had pushed out the back of its holder. I could only cure this by having the start button hanging out the front of the box by its wires! Being an old machine, I don't mind that it looks a bit silly (at least it works).

what happens when you try to power the pc up??

do the fans spin, lights come on? anything at all happen?

are you using the same power cable with the new psu? cos those things can break inside and you'd never know til you tried a different one.

nothing happens, no lights, no fans. Never come accross it before.

the psu is powered on via a signal from the mobo, so all I can offer is that your mobo died catastrophically, or perhaps there is a break in the connection from the front panel 'on button' and the mobo? you checked and made sure the on button is properly plugged into the mobo , yes?
