I have a Dell 5150 P4 3.0 It cost me around £292 (base unit) in one of the special offers last september. Has served me fine, It has a PCI-E graphics card, 512 DDR2 memory but didnt have the DVDRW when I got it. If the HP had been around at that time at that price It would have been a very close call. The difference in processor type is not noticeable certainly for gaming and general usage and while I have no bad things to say about Pentium processors Ive read numerous reports/reviews that the new Semprons perform better for gaming and is probably the best bang for buck processor out there. - check processor review on ebuyer if you are not sure. Cant see the Dabs HP deal lasting for long.

Thanks for this - I have a Dell 5100 P4 3.0 512Mb base unit which I bought on a Deal deal with a laptop. Cost me about £220 - this price is still very cheap by todays standards. It is a great machine which I have added a graphics card (£50), DVD-RAM (£30) and 1GB (£60) too. I like Dell partly for the support available online. I just find it hard to pay the same money for a machine which seems 'worse' - especially on the processor front. However, your comments on the Sempron have nudged me towards the HP.

    Many thanks for all comments.
