    It might be. But when they're asking for tenant to put a bill in their name it's incredibly suspicious.

    Ooo, I really wish that would work, we currently rent and get all sorts of post. There's one who was obviously a teacher and we get all her union and teaching gumph, but there's this one person who has letters from a bank, a utility company, and a department store, and he owes to all three. I've sent them back, I've phoned and told them I've no idea who this person is (refusing to leave my own details), in turn they say they've put a block on the address, but then a couple of weeks later, it starts reappearing again. We've started getting solicitors letters now. I really hope our house purchase goes through so we can leave all this behind...I hate renting. *sigh* :rolleyes:

    I never said that I thought letting on a residential mortgage was a red flag for tax avoidance/evasion. I was simply answering a question about what a previous poster meant. It can be a red flag, but for various different things, depending on the reasons why it's being done.
