Thinking of moving to the Stoke/Stone/Newcastle U.L area but don't know that area

Stone or Newcastle is the locations to look at. The same house can be bought in Stone, Stafford or Stoke and the prices are
350,250,150 in the same order as the list above. Go figure where the nicer place to live isThe proof that some people really are opinionated and ignorant

Hello Quackers neighbour  I'm High Lane.
When I say I'm from Burslem people assume I live in the town centre - I think that's the case with most folk though?
But we're really high up here, and we can see right across to the Peaks, it's a lovely view.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
do you two live next door to each other then? :rotfl:Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0

Bear in mind the dreadful reputation of Stafford Hospital - although I'm sure they have started cleaning their act up now.0

I knew a few nurses at staffs hospital, this problem isn't new. Its just that nobody had reported it yet. What do you expect when the managers/admin staff start to outnumber the actual nurses? Only one still works there, the rest left for warmer climes.
EDIT: Enquiry to be held in private, so we'll probably never know....0 -
eh? what is the alleged problem at the hospital?Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0

Nothing serious, just loads more people dying than is 'the norm', shocking levels of care and grubby conditions. Most is essentially down to a lack of front line staff, and by all accounts Stafford is not the only offender - they just got spotted first by the media.
Actually, if you're interested in the area take a look at staffordforum. The 'Stafford Chat' section may give you a clue on areas around the town etc. This is just Stafford though, not the other areas.0 -
Here's one report from when it came out back in March:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/7948293.stm
It's not alleged - it was findings from the Healthcare commission and an inquiry is underway.
It's not always the foremost thing in mind when moving to an area but I thought it was important to mention as it's something that only tends to come up if you get ill.
The North Staffordshire University Hospital is the one which serves Stoke on Trent/Newcastle and is located in Hartshill, which is very close to Newcastle and Stoke.0 -
I have friends in Stone who tell me its not all as pretty as its painted. I know they have had a lot of problems with teenagers and anti social behaviour etc but you get that everywhere. Its just exaggerated I think with Stone being quite small.
Personally, I love Stoke. I was born and bred in Meir which often gets a bad rep locally but its a place where I have always felt at home and above all, safe.
OP, take a look further East of the City towards places like Forsbrook, Dilhorne and Hilderstone. Quite pretty rural locations.0
