I have the full sky+ digital tv package and have just discovered sky player. Does anybody have this and is it free? If i get it on my laptop will I be able to take my laptop to the states and watch rugby league on it? Sorry if I sound a bit stupid but this is new to me!

Not quite correct.
To watch live Sky TV, you must have multiroom or broadband max and the relative subs package.
To watch On Demand stuff, you can watch whatever they have to offer, relative to the current Sky package you're on.
I don't know if you'll be able to watch from the US as they'll pick up that your not using a UK IP address, which they may block.Dave. :wave:0 -
i can watch live tv on sky player and i dont have their broadband or multiroom, you just need that channel eg sky sports package included in your tv package0

It wouldn't let me when I tried yesterday. It just gave me the option to upgrade to multiroom or broadband max.Dave. :wave:0 -
What is the quality like when watching live TV on a computer?
I'm thinking of upgrading to Sky Broadband Unlimited, so that I might actually be able to get to see some of the sport I pay for  - but my only experience to date has been the "glaucoma-in-a-blizzard" effect that you get trying to watch a match on the BBC website0 -
If the live stuff is anything like the VOD stuff I've seen on my 22" PC screen, IMO it's not worth it.
Hopefully someone who watches live stuff can tell us if the bitrate is any better.Dave. :wave:0 -

That was my concern. I like the idea of being able to watch the match on the PC rather than go for multi-room (only have one TV anyway) but I don't want to pay out for extra (potential) broadband speed which I don't really need, if the quality isn't going to be worth it.0 -

I watched the Ashes on my laptop at work and it was spot on. I had no complaints.0 -

Was that through a company network though? Have you tried through the actual domestic Sky ADSL line?0 -
