Not that ad with the shifty looking guy who has 'starey' eyes?
I sold mine locally, she tested everything that wasn't hallmarked, weighed it in front of me and gave me £170. Not bad for unwanted or broken stuff though I'm sure the 'rate' could have been better on a postal sale but I wanted total control over whether or not I proceeded with the sale.
Shame the OP had to learn the hard way.0 -

That guy from PostalGold is incredibly spooky with his staring eyes.
I don't think he blinks once throughout the ad. :eek:0 -
Hi I found a place that I was happy with plus gold, they called me with my quote which I thought was reasonable and when checking the prices on there website was about the amount I would have expected and much better than I was offered by my local jewellers0

Nice little advert...well worded.0 -
Sorry I thought this was a public forum and hat you were actually allowed to praise companies. And I suppose it is a form of advert to let people know who you have good dealings with, its called word of mouth!!
You can besure if my experience had been a bad one I would have also posted on this thread to warn people off0 -

Sorry, looks like spam to me too.
The fact is, these companies are parasites preying on the naive and desperate. There is a good reason why the OFT is investigating these companies. From the Observer:
"Which? sent three pieces of new gold jewellery to four buyers that advertise on TV, three independent jewellers and three pawnbrokers. The TV gold buyers gave the worst quotes. CashMyGold which uses gameshow host Dale Winton to promote its service, offered the lowest prices: £38.57 for the three pieces of jewellery bought for £729.
Another company, Money4Gold "effectively held a 9ct gold necklace to ransom", says Which?, telling a researcher a piece bought for £399 was "not gold" and it would cost £10.95 to have it returned.
Postal Gold increased its offer for all three pieces of the jewellery after the researcher rejected its initial quote, nearly doubling the amount it would pay for two of the items. However, these rates were still far lower than those from jewellers and pawnbrokers."
If you are really intent on selling your gold, go to several jewellers and pawn brokers for valuations. The postal companies count on people not knowing what their stuff is worth and being apathetic about demanding it back.
Brand new gold jewellery bought for £729 - valued at £38. Think about that every time you consider sending your gold off to one of these companies.0 -
