Watching the golf today...during EVERY break was an ad with a woman pulling money off a tree and saying how easy it is turn your gold into cash.
Gawd you must be desperate to use one of these merchants.

It was the same on ITV3 yesterday during Poiret. Luckily I had recorded the programme and so just I FF'd through the adverts.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I found myself in a situation where i had to sell some old gold (luckily I had found 2 of the pieces) I went to the local jewllers and after 3 quotes got a reasonable price-mind you the quotes did differ by £55.00. I had weighed it at work first on the franking machine so I had a fair idea what to expect after looking on the internet for the spot gold prices.

Having recently taken a few days off work, I was privileged enough to watch some Daytime TV on ITV. These low budget powerpoint generated adverts plague the advertising slots at these times.

Think they've found their target audience.

    Hi moses1

Sorry to hear that you didnt have a good experience with the company you went with. I have to admit i had a good experience myself. I was sooo soo happy i got £100 for some odd bits of jewlery that my grandma gave me yeeeeaaars ago and i just would never wear them . make sure that the company you go with has insurance on stuff you put in the envelope and also that you will be able to get your gold back if you're not happy with the offer. Some postal gold companies are good like that.

I dont remember the name of the one i sent my gold to i typed in google search engine something like postal gold.

This old chesnut the 1 post how great the company is

have you noticed the gold adverts in your local papers? they rely on reputation, postal gold sounds like the stupidest thing in the world, ive seen all their adverts, they could at least get some less-ropey looking actors!

I agree with dacouch - the best thing to do if you want to sell your unwanted gold (and the only gold I have is my wedding ring, which I wouldn't sell) is to go round as many local jewellers in your area who offer this service as possible, and get the prices and costs they give before going anywhere near the ones who advertise on TV.

Besides, aren't these firms unregulated at the moment?

I have sold some items of gold jewellery this week - a friend of mine told me he had sold some of his at a LOCAL JEWELLERS
so hubbytook some of mine in
the chap weighed it and told hubby the price there and then and asked hubby to call back in 30 mins whilst he tested it to make sure it WAS gold
hubby called back and collected £710 which we banked

    my advice?
try local first - we KNEW what the price was on offer and it was our choice to sell or not.
