I made a thingiemajig out of a pressure sprayer from Aldi (£8.99) filled it with a mix of roundup and parafin (so its sticky) and doctored the end of the wand by fitting a plantpot to it so it acts like a shroud.

Place over the Dandelion press down so the plant pot cannot "leak" onto the grass and give a quick spray. Saves bending down.

;) The only thing I ask is if Dandelions were sold for £12.49 in garden centres would we fall over ourselves tp buy them. I Live in Derby and out side my house there is a 10-15 acre green coverd with dandelions its beautifull better than a lawn that no wild life can live of;)

I prefere not to use chemicals - to save money and the environment!

I go round the lawn with an old vegetable knife and cut at an angle under the plant as low down as I can. Some grow back but are weakened and when cut again give up. Thoses round the edge in the soil I dig up quite easily with a trowel.

It only needs to be done once a year about now and then there's only the odd few. After a couple of years there wont be many at all.

I only had two in the garden this year (the allotment is another story)

On the environmental point, glyphosate is only harmful to the plant you put it on. If it gets into the soil, it's rendered inactive and is therefore harmless. It doesn't harm wildlife that eats the affected plant and once it starts dying, wildlife won't touch it anyway.

Can't help with the money issue though.

Boiling water poured into the centre of each plant will kill it very quickly, the water has to be hot.

I like them in my lawn so I don't use it on them there, I use it for the driveway.
As oddjob says, what a wonderful flower, picks me up to see them in my lawn.

edit :D when I say hot, I mean don't boil it and let it sit for 5 mins, I've found it doesn't work as well.
