Sky+ HD box - New customer

Just a quick question regarding Sky haggling!

I am thinking of joining Sky in next couple of weeks.. Rather than getting the standard sky+ box, ideally I would prefer the Sky+ HD box (just for the extra storage space.)

I know the current deal is £49 for the Sky+HD box when subscribing to the HD package.

If I were to just subscribe to the entertainment pack (and not the HD pack) what are my chances of Sky letting me have the Sky+ HD box at a discount price (say for about £100?)

Any help/advice would be great.

  • Unfortunately not, they wont be interested. The £10 p/m is the real profit for them and thats why they are willing to make a lose on the box. Without the substidy expect to pay approx £299.

A little while ago Tesco were selling boxes POWF for £199 and some stores may still have some. Ebay may be another option.
  • You can cancel the HD sub within 30 days. That's what we did. Got the box for £49 and cancelled the HD sub within a couple of weeks via email and kept the entertainment, music, news and kids mixes and just use it as a sky+ box except with bigger hard drive and BBC HD, channel 4 hd, itv HD and luxe tv hd.

We'll you appear to have been lucky there. Officially the deal for the £49 box is that you take and keep the HD pack for 12months. Thats how they claw the substidy back.
