EON FixOnline Version 3 or R1 ?
Options
I'm quite tempted by Fixonline, yes wholesale may drop slightly but will EON really pass on that much to us ?
The new R1 I think is seriously pricey.
Our current bill for gas/electric is about £110-£140 pm depending on the season, with a 1% reduction in discount already plus the 5.8% premium it's looking kinda pricey.
With Fixonline v3, I can effectively get nearly 20% discount when you combine duel fuel discount plus self reading benefits etc, AND not paying the 5.8% premium and worst case scenario if everything goes really pear shaped on wholesale pricing I can pay £30 and escape anyway.
Fixonline 3 seems to make way more sense to me and seems like it would save me about £220 per year give or take.
Is this a no brainer, or am I missing something ?

I went with the FixOnline v3 as well - I already have a significant credit built up ready for the winter and I like having the Clubcard points. The discount looked pretty attractive, and the "escape fee" should easily be covered by using a cashback site to switch to another Supplier if the rates ever come down by a significant amount.Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!!0

Yeah, pretty much surmises how I'm thinking right now..
Can't see a huge downside and plenty of up. I'm also £300+ in credit now with Eon.0 -

Quick question for you , to get the big discount do you have to take your own meter readings and submit them online ?
If so, how often etc?0 -

Hi Simon22,
To be eligible for this tariff you would be required to register for an online account via the E.ON website.
Part of the online facility is the function to provide meter readings, however it is not a neccesity. Meter readers will still visit and attempt to read the meter as normal.
In the case of us producing an estimated bill, E.ON automaticlly emails you and advises that we haven't obtained a reading and we will estimate, this email ask the customer to provide a reading to allow us to send an actual bill instead.
You can if you wish provide readings monthly via the online account, many customers like to do this as a way of managing their usage.
Any other questions feel free to ask.

Ok cheers Brian, all in all it seems like a solid option for me.
I actually lost money on the last fixed price fiasco as prices dropped like crazy due to the recession.
Typical, hopefully this one will pay off.0 -

I usually take my own readings once a month or thereabouts. Only takes 5mins of my time and it's piece of mind for me. Plus I like to see how things look on my energy tracker :rotfl:Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!!0 -
Hi - Just thought I would add to the post. I have just switched from Eon protection plan (that runs out 1st Oct) to the Fixedonline plan that Simon22 has been thinking about. When doing the switch with Eon, I asked the girl what would happen if prices dropped through the floor between now and Dec 10. She said that I could always switch again if I wanted to. I said yes, I guess so, but it would cost £30 penalty. She replied "No - not so long as I stay with an Eon plan". So, looks like the best of both worlds to me!!
HTH:T0 -
Yep, I couldn't see any downside so signed up a few hours ago.
Beats the crap outta the default protection plan they are moving people across to unless you ring them.0 -
Brian, I'm in the same position as Simon22. If I switch over to Fixonline 3 today, will it come into force immediately? Obviously it would be better for it to run from 1st October but the Fixonline is "limited time only" so I don't want to miss out on it!0

Hi all, just switched to fixonline 3 but thinking against this now as someone has already said wholesale is supposed to be coming down so who reckons the Track and Save v2 maybe a better choice?0
