I'm not completely sure this is true. You would have to take anything too big for a postbox to the post office counter - they would see that it weighs more than the pre-paid postage and make you pay for it.I'm a little angel BUT A WHOLE LOTTA DEVIL

I took a big box to the post office to post to a freepost address. I even got a certificate of posting, but at no time did the woman ask me the weight, or weigh it herself.
But that was a legimate thing to send, and the recipient wanted it. I wouldn't like to try it with a brick!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Was it with a pre-paid envelope though?
The freepost envelopes being discussed were the ones you get with junk mail so you can send back their application forms etc. These have a l 2 l or a l 1 l where the stamp usually goes so therefore have a second or first class postage paid for so should raise a question when trying to post it.
I don't know for definate - maybe someone who works or has worked for the post office could confirm this.I'm a little angel BUT A WHOLE LOTTA DEVIL
