Hi
I have written to Capital One re my charges(after all the good advice on these boards) and today I have received a lette roffering me £185 back!!I am not going to accept but at least it is a step in the right direction. (I am claiming £700 back)
Can anyone please guide me to the link that has the letters re bank charges(it would be the one where i got the letter to copy for this but I cant find it)

I was in exactly the same position, but filed on line and then they wrote and offered me the full amount plus interest plus court costs without it even getting that far. Still they call it a 'gesture of goodwill'!!!

Keep the faith and don't cave.

    Hi Crawley Girl
Were you with Capital One? Did you write the first letter and get a similar reply to me and then go ahead and push for the full amount?
Sorry so many questions ---I am just really interested to hear from people that have won against Capital One.
    Thanks x

    Yes it was Capital One.

I had to write the initial letter which resulted in £40 being credited back.

I wrote the LBA and got a letter back saying, you've had £40 we can't do any more.

So I filed on Moneyclaim on line. They acknowledged the claim the next day and then they wrote about a week later and said 'bearing in mind the circumstances blah blah we'll refund the £120 plus interest plus costs'. I had to sign to say I accepted and am now waiting for the cheque to arrive.

    Does that help?

I am definately not going to accept this. They have enclosed a letter for me to sign to say i agree
    nooo way.

I now feel sure i will get the full lot back eventually!!!

Dottyanne---I wrote to them asking for copies of all my statements dating back to 2002 when i opened the account(but you can go back 6 years). The letter is on the link which Crawley Girl has posted.

I can not stress how important it is to go look at https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk - there are lots of people there with lots of knowledge and the FAQ section was really invalueable to me.

If you are going to do it, do it properly and look at the website! Rant over!

Gilly - go for it! I was panicky but felt it was worth the risk - which has turned out to be very risk-free!

I did all my initial letters on Wedsnesday (12 different creditors) asking for a record of all the charges. My question is - How do they re-credit the charges? Does it come off any outstanding balances or is it a cheque??
