    Hi Guys

Been lurking for ages but finally need to ask for some advice, I hope thats okay!?

We moved into our house 2 years ago and in the front garden we have a mature grapevine which bears tons of fruit each year (which the birds currently eat!)

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with all these grapes? This years are particularly good, think that is due to all the rain.

They are green grapes and have seeds in them. I also wondered if there was anything I can do with the leaves?

Any help would be very much appreciated! Many thanks!

Put them in a smoothy. Or freeze them to go in a smoothy when you want one. :)

Put them in the freezer. They're yummy to eat frozen, just the thing if you're watching a good film, they go down like nectar! Mmmmm.

I used to love a devilled chicken recipe my mum made which also froze well. I don't know the quantities but it went something like this...

Mix plain flour, cayenne pepper, paprika and seasoning, coat diced chicken pieces in mixture. Saute a chopped onion in a sauce pan, add chicken pieces and brown. Put left over flour and spice mixture into the pan, stir in milk to make a sauce and simmer until thickened. Put a handful of grapes into the pan 5-10 minutes before finishing. Serve with rice and drizzle with creme fraiche or soured cream.
  • Hi,

I have ten boxes of green grapes, (acquired by Mrjimbob60 rather cheaply)there are almost at the "going off" stage and I don't know what to do with them. - other than throw them away - which would be such a waste.

Any ideas? Can they be frozen or cooked?

I personally don't know a recipe that calls for cooked grapes

but then I don't know many of recipes anyway. lol

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi mrsjimbob,

There's an earlier thread on what to do with grapes that may help so I've added your post to it to keep all the ideas together.

Further to my post on what to do with leftover bananas, here's a tip on what to do with leftover grapes. Rinse them under cold running water, pat them dry with a clean tea towel, then freeze them! Yup, they do freeze well, I promise (as you've probably guessed, I'm a bit of a freezer queen).

How to freeze? You can pop one into each compartment of an ice-cube tray, or if you have a lot to freeze, you can use a large plastic container with a tight-fitting lid (e.g. Tupperware, or just recycle an old ice-cream container, which is just as good). Make sure they are spaced apart, and you can freeze them in layers if you interleave some greaseproof paper between them.

How to use frozen grapes? They make great ice-cubes! Simply pop them into your favourite cool drink, and they will help keep it cool. They have an added advantage over ice cubes made with water in that they won't dilute your drink as they defrost. Moreover, when they have defrosted in your drink you can then eat them in the normal way. Delicious!

Chilled grapes are really refreshing au naturel as well. Simply pop one into your mouth and suck it to keep yourself cool during a long hot day. A great way to keep cool, and a low-fat snack when it has melted in your mouth. I defy you not to give into temptation and eat it!
All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

I always freeze grapes to use with a cheese board. They are so refreshing.
