What phone?!!!

Hi,

I currently am on T-Mobile Flex 30 with internet (pay £35 inc web access), the allowance is sometimes too much, sometimes just enough and I have a Samsung Omnia. However I'm not only pregnant :T but have just been made redundant  and when my contract is up next month I need to move to a cheaper tariff. Although I am concious that now I'm home during the day, my usage may go up.

My hubby has given me a budget of £22 a month to "spend" on a new tariff. I've been looking at Sim only - I can get 600 minutes and unlimited texts with most networks for £15 or with internet for £20. However, I'm fed up with my omnia, I can't text on it easily as it's keyboardless but know if I go sim only, I'm stuck with it which I'm not particularly keen on.

I've seen offers on dialaphone for "discount" contracts which seem to suit tariff wise, but I want a "snazzy" (ish!) phone to boot. I'd like something like I currently have only with a keyboard. The Nokia N97 is out of the question (which is a shame coz it suits all my needs!) because it's not on cheap enough tariffs as it's so new.

I've seen some touchscreens like the nokia 5800 which look quite nice but I'm worried how I'll get on with texting on it considering the pains I have with my Omnia. Obviously as much as I'd like one, an IPhone is out the question! :o

Does anyone have any suggestions for phones? I'll happily consider any manufacturer, but a decent camera would be nice for when the baby arrives.

I've just got an LG crystal for £25 a month with 02 through e2save, its got an 8 megapixel camera. With that i get 600 minutes and unlimited texts.

I had a samsung tocco before this, and this one is a bit more interesting!

    Hiya,
What's it like for texting on?

its ok, it took a bit of getting used to but im ok with it now. It has a full touchscreen, and it slides up and has a transparent keypad underneath..The predictive text is a bit enthusiastic, i would suggest putting all your extra words eg towns, names in the dictionary first, which is quite easy!

  • How about a G1? you have not said how long a contract you want but it can be had for free from £20, or at least thats what the shop offerem me when I went in. As you are already on T-Mobile you should be able to get more for you money on a retentions deal.

    Hiya,

My mum has a G1 - not 100% sure I want one (simply because she has one!) The LG sounds interesting tho, I'll take a look.

    Thanks.

Funnily enough I am actually paying £15/month.

The original plan was £35 with £5 off and 50% discount.

I know someone else got a Samsung Jet - nice phone.
  • interesting! thanks!

If you've just been made redundant, obviously now isn't the best times for financial certainty in your life. If I were you, I'd go on Sim only for now, so you've got the freedom if you need it, chug along with your existing phone, and think about getting something new later. For a camera, why not actually just buy a digital camera? ;)

Hi Bill thanks but I wasn't asking for financial advise. We've worked out finances thank you and if you note, I mentioned my hubby has said I can spend £21 a month on a tariff. He's reduced his costs from £30 to £15 and I'm doing a similar cost cutting excercise. We've got a digital camera but for ease I'd quite like, and am entitled to as the next person, to have a decent camera on my phone to catch those 'moments`.

Although why I need to explain my financial sutation to you I'm not sure!

I posted my situation so people knew the history to my post.

    Thanks tho.

I'd have thought Dolphin 30 £24.46 a month, i'd be surprised if they didn't take £5 off if you rang especially if you got a free pay as you go sim lying around.
18 month 400 min umlimited texts
24 month 600 min umlimited texts free 500mb net
I think you get a choice of all the 8mp camera phones.

Or surely T-mobile will give you a good offer when you cancel
