Mobile phone contract changes

My mate recently told me that he recieved a text message from Orange saying that changes were to be made to phone call charges. He rang Orange and cancelled the contract because it's not the contract that he signed up to, therefore potentially a breach of contract?
I've had basically the same text from T-Mobile, does that mean I could cancel my contract? Wanted your opinion before I went and tried to cancel it without a leg to stand on!

Yeah that's the one that I got. I think I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if I can. I'd kind of like an iPhone too so would be happy to cancel it!! I'll let you know how I get on.

The problem lies in the terms of those contracts changing. The customer has every right to cancel if the original terms are being breached.
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...
  • I just phoned them and ended up getting some snotty bloke saying I would have to pay the charge if I wanted to leave early.
  • When did you get the text?

I took out an 18 month contract with t-mobile on wednesday, and specifically asked about calls abroad (as I regularly travel as part of my job) and the salesman did not mention the price changes at all.
