Help-Littlewoods have recharged vouchers

I hope someone can help me or offer some advice

Over the last few months prior to christmas I placed 4 orders onto my Littlewoods account using vouchers I obtained from here to purchase some toys etc for my daughter for christmas and spreading the cost. Normally, as you all know Littlewoods are more expensive, but with the help of the vouchers the prices come down and ended up being slightly cheaper than local stores.
This morning I accessed my online account to pay my minimum statement ammount and found that on the 30/12 that they had made 4 x promotional adjustments of £15 charged to my account.
Can they do this legally, all vouchers were different and I have statements, and packing notes stating a charge which was mutually accepted.
Happy new year!!!
Any help and advice, without sarcasm would be appreciated, my husband has already said I told you so.

I think they can, sadly. The T&C of the vouchers probably state that they are to be used by the original recipient only, and because Littlewoods operate a credit account, they were used to reduce the amount you were in debt to them rather than to immediately pay for the items at a reduced cost. They can recharge without your permission because they operate the credit account: it would be different if you had paid directly with a third party CC or debit card, where you would have had to authorise the transaction.

The price was set at the catalogue cost, so the "invitation to treat" was at that price. You don't have a contract for the lower cost.

Assuming the items aren't in a fit state to return, this is one to chalk down to experience, I suspect.
  • i always pay with my credit card for littlewoods so if they take back the value of the voucher i just claim it back via the credit card.
  • I paid for something from them with a voucher for £15 off a few months ago and they charged me the £15 on my credit card. I phoned them on numerous occasions and they always say that they'll refund me but they still haven't! I don't remember the code I used now is there anything I can do?

    can you do this?
  • yes as i have not set up a littlewoods credit account ,
littlewoods charged me full price i rang my card company they took the full amount back from littlewoods,
then littlewoods wrote to me demanding the money told them they get the amount less the discount or nothing. ;D

also had words with trading standards about it they are only to take transactions to the value you autherised them to take.
so ring trading standards get them involved.

i used one voucher code with my account. i tried to use a second one and they emailed me asking me to call them. i didn't so they didn't process the order. i just checked my account and the voucher is listed as 'holiday voucher', they haven't added any money back onto my account though. if they do i'll just grit my teeth and pay it i suppose, it's the chance we take with these codes. has anyone else had their discounts added back onto their account?

  • I also ordered Sonic Heroes for £19 using a £15 voucher, should have cost £4, but my credit statement says I owe them £19 still. Like you say, I'm going to chalk it down to experience because the game was not too much more expensive than the high street anyway.

They can b****r off if they think I will ever order from them again though - they lost a potential customer here!

same problem here im afraid... and to add insult to injury i spoke to two people at their call centres and all i can say is... er... i think their customer care and social skills department need some more training.

and I do hope they are reading this... their customer care was appauling, rude, ignorant, and spoke over the top of me whilst i was trying to explain the situation.

    Grrr... HOW RUDE!

  • Anyone affected by the Great Littlewoods Voucher Scam, please sign up to www.geteven.biz. If you haven't heard of us already, we are trying to get enough people who have been affected by this together so that we can launch a class action against LW and get this buried once and for all. If you don't want to register on the sight, we still want to hear your story (http://geteven.biz/templates/email.html), even if you decided to pay the £25! I urge anyone that has been affected to get in touch!

    Cheers
